i want it now: digital slr camera

Hi fellow bloggers!

I need your help... Wade and I (did I ever tell you that's Dear Hubby's name?) are looking for a new digital camera and a few of the new parents in our group have said we must get an SLR to capture those quick-as-can-be moments that babies often have and that parents don't want to miss.

Help!

I know nothing about cameras... can any of you give any suggestions or recommendations? I can really use the advice.

Thanks!
Kristin

I have heard rave reviews about the Nikon D50-90....

I am really happy with my Nikon D40. It's easy to use but still offers so much to play with.

I have that Nikon D60 and love love love it....it is has the speed that you are interested in to capture the moments, being a camera junky, I which I would have had this earlier on with Anya...but it truely is a great camera and I got mine for 600.00 and that included the 18-55 lens which is good for what I want right now, but later on I want to upgrade to a better longer distance lens. Anyway, love my Nikon and they are known for their cameras. I have also heard the EOS from canon is good too....but haven't had experience with it.

so long story short, can't go wrong with the canon...the only draw back it they are not the small point and shoot variety that will fit in your purse, but we also have one of those, for occasions when the nicer camera isn't needed.

Err. hope that helps!

Hope you are feeling good and doing better. Love ya!

Thanks each of you for your recos. I have heard nothing but good things about Nikon, and it seems you would all agree! Time to start researching!!

Aimee! I'm feeling good -- definitely getting bigger. Bigger where I'm starting to notice that it's getting in the way. But also with that comes all the lovely kicks and flutters that these two keep me busy enjoying.

My shower is in mid-July... I'm sure you won't be able to make it back to GB for the weekend, but would love to see you if you can! If not, let's chat -- we need to catch up!!

We love our Canon Rebel! It's pretty darn fast and VERY easy to use. (The main reason we went with that one was so that photographically-challenged-Jessie would actually be able to use it!)

We bought ours from a camera shop that a friend of ours works at and got an extra really cool lens for like 50 bucks! I've been using it to take street style photos on my new blog. :)

Good luck deciding!

I have a Nikon D40 and I bought it after reading this review:

I know that Canons are also great, so I'm sure you won't go wrong with either brand! :)

Buy an entry-level SLR camera! I personally suggest Nikon D5000 digital SLR camera. its best for beginners.
