it's time

Here we are nearly wrapping up January, and I haven't even gotten around yet to telling you about my resolutions for '11.

This year, I don't have a list. It's just one thing, actually. This year, I am not going to spread myself thin with too many commitments and too many to-do's. It happens all the time... I can't say no (or I don't want to say no) or I just have to finish this "one more thing" before I go do this, this or that, and I feel anxious the entire time because I'm trying to get everything done. And then I feel guilty when I'm unable to get to everything, which of course happens more often than not! And it's a horrible cycle that I don't like very much at all, and so I figure I can avoid the whole thing if I am just realistic about what I can and cannot commit to and do.

One project that has continually been pushed back is this very blog. I haven't been able to give it the time or the energy I had when I started on this adventure a few years ago, and the quality of my posts really shows it. I want to do better for you, but don't know how to fit that in with everything else. And so it's time I say goodbye. Maybe not forever. But definitely for now.

I want to thank you all so much for your visits. For listening to my stories and sharing your thoughts with me. The fact that you took the time out of your day to write something to me has made such an impact, I wish I had better words to say thank you.

And so... good-bye, Friends.
xo, Kristin

I've enjoyed your blog and am sorry to see you give it up, but I definitely understand the feeling of not being able to keep up with all of our commitments. Good luck with everything!

Well, I'm sad to read this, but I totally get it - I'm sort of in the same boat myself (and I don't even have kiddos like you do!) I hope to see you back in this space, even on a part-time basis. :)

Oh no!!!!! I will miss all your inspirational posts, you always post such great finds - we have such similar taste.

Hopefully this is just "see you later" and not "goodbye". But I will keep track of how you're doing on Facebook.

i'm so sad to read this... i pouted at my computer screen for a good five minutes! i hope 2011 brings everything you've dreamed of in your career & family life, and i'm sure that just those two things take up more than their share of time (without even considering hobbies, blogging & me-time as well) so i completely understand where you're coming from. i hope one day we'll hear from you again via "contented me," which i have so loved reading, but until then i hope you look me up on facebook (meg watkins, guelph, ontario) so that when i finally make it to chicago we can meet up for that coffee!

Thank you all SO much for your comments, that frankly, could not be kinder or more supportive. You're making me rethink my whole decision! But seriously, best of luck to each of you, and I will still be visiting your blogs -- no doubt about that! We'll be in touch, and someday I'll be back with new inspiration and ideas in tow.
xoxoxo, Kristin

oh kristin! while i'm saddened that you're leaving i can utterly understand why and take my hat off to you for your new year's resolution. enjoy having more time to focus on the things that really matter, and remember to in between caring for your twinkies and everyone else take time for yourself. best wishes - i've enjoyed popping in :) Annie x
