Joslyn inspired me. I haven’t thought much about resolutions for the New Year, but I decided I should make at least a few. Even if I’m a little late, it’s better than never, right?
These are the things I want to do this year…
Stop procrastinating. (This is a very tall order. I couldn’t even come up with my resolution list on time. From now on - Do it now. Do it now. Do it now.)
Keep bouquets of fresh flowers. (Flowers make me happy. Trader Joe’s has a great selection – for cheap – and in a few months it’ll be farmer’s market time again. This should be an easy one.)
Try a new recipe once a week. (Time to put that stack of cookbooks to use.)
Take more pictures. (What good is a camera sitting in a drawer? Get it out, get out there and snap up as many photos of this life as you can before it passes by. Capture the beauty of the every day.)
Stop swearing. (I don’t look like a truck-driver, so why should I sound like one? Besides, "shut the front door" sounds so much more clever than the alternative.)
Perfect the Ashtanga headstand in yoga class. (Hold it for 20 counts, drop your legs to look like an L for 5 and then raise your legs back up for a count before exiting the pose. Do this with grace. 20 counts feels like an eternity, but I swear I will get this by the end of ’09.)

GREAT resolutions! Quite similar to some of mine too. I especially like the idea of taking more pictures---I'm notoriously lazy with my camera and usually just can't be bothered, but then later I complain that i have no photos!
and here's to perfecting headstand! it's one of my favourite asanas. when you hit it on the sweet spot, there's nothing better!
handstand is another story, of course...but it's all a journey!
I need to stop swearing too.
Hi CitySage - thanks for visiting with me! Even worse than being lazy about taking pictures? Forgetting your camera! I go to all sorts of wonderful events, and yet when I want to get a pic of something, it's pretty much guaranteed that my camera is at home because I forgot it. Where is that memory of mine going?
Handstand certainly is another story. I've done one too many backflops to get excited about that one...
Fully support your resolutions - they are very good ones (esp the taking more pics one - im sure its a medical fact its good for you!) please tell me - is yoga worth taking up? everyone tells me they think I would love it, but I'm a wimp!? xx
Hi Cherry Blog - you should definitely try a yoga class or two. I love love love it and thank my lucky stars that i got into it a few years ago. it's kind of amazing the transition your body makes as you start to work through poses that at first seem tough and 'no way it's gonna happen' but then suddenly you're doing it! do try it!
I am totally with you on #1. And I'm dying to try pilates, so if you're on your head in yoga class, I should probably get off my butt and try pilates...;)
fresh flowers? i LOVE that idea!
you so rock if you can do that headstand!!!!!!!!
you rock anyway.
