i want it now: slingbacks

The other day I got sucked into watching a tv wedding*, and despite the requisite dysfunction that makes reality tv so fascinating, it totally got me in the mood to go to a wedding. To get dolled up for a night of cocktails and dancing.

Then I saw these gorgeous heels...

And now I REALLY want to go. Wouldn't they look perfect with an LBD?

(Antique Gold Slingbacks from Anthropologie.)

*Don't you agree that there should be a study done on the power of reality TV to seduce you into watching? I have zero care in the world about these people, and yet there I was watching every minute of it, transfixed.

snippets

A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Or in other words, what I'm currently loving.

Delicate, handmade earrings...

A flirty fall cape...

Pumpkin EVERYTHING. (even hot chocolate)...

Gorgeous calligraphy...

And an uber-cool black-and-white tot's room...

Have a happy Monday, Friends.

spotlight: BHLDN

Somebody better stop me before I go off the BHLDN deep end.

They have everything you need to make a wedding or celebration special - plates, stationary, and things you never even knew you needed...

I could get lost in here for days, and I'm not even planning a wedding!

(Also straws, pedestals, and pitchers.)

PS - I am so excited for Dionne and her new job with BHLDN - I know she's going to do an amazing job!

Ah, birthday parties.

We've got a two-year old birthday party on the horizon (for two!) and already the wheels are turning for this year's theme.

Whales, perhaps?

I think Bridgett's use of bold colors and modern, simple designs is brilliant.

spotlight: farmaesthetics

I've read about Farmaesthetics online. The farm-grown, organic skincare products have gotten a lot of buzz lately. I never knew there was a shop, though, until we started on our run down Bellevue Avenue in Newport last Saturday. There it was just across the street from our hotel. I popped in on Sunday morning, and the apothecary boutique was every bit as charming as I would have imagined.

Every inch of the small space was considered - from the black-and-white striped awning on the storefront to the antique mantle at the fireplace. There was one whole wall of glass-front cabinets holding rows of glass bottles and stacks of tins. No detail was overlooked, and the result was a crisp, quiet space with a very old-world feel.

Listening to jazzy tunes in the background, I could have spent the entire morning perusing the lotions and potions. (And probably would have if Wade wasn't with me.)

I wasn't able to get all the things I would have liked (darn those carry-on rules!), but I still came away with a few goodies and a handful of samples the sales girl graciously threw in.

Next time? I am so signing up for a facial.

Beware the cuteness!

When you click through to Rikshaw Design, you may start to feel a little giggly and find yourself imagining all the little people in your life donning pieces from their block-printed apparel collection...

Especially those bloomers! I'd be hard-pressed to find someone who wouldn't melt at the sight of those little ruffly bottoms toddling by.

Perhaps it's the designer in me, but I am just loving the paper art over at paper trail...

loving sea green

I didn't realize it until I looked at them all together... but it seems that almost every thing that is inspiring me lately or that is on my wish list is a lovely shade of green.

Like this statement necklace...

This swirly pillow...

This scalloped dinnerware...

And this seaside bathroom...

It must be that spring is here.

bold bedding

Morning, Sunshines! Hope you had a lovely weekend.

Speaking of sunshine... we had NONE for the past three days. It was quite possibly the coldest, rainiest, dreariest, windiest May weekend in history. (Well, that I can remember at least.)

But walking out to sunshine and blue skies and the greenest, green grass and brightest spring flowers (thanks to all that rain!) put a big smile on my face, and so I guess our lazy weekend at home wasn't quite so bad...

And all that spring-ness outside made me think of this...

Bold, bright, colorful. Just like a spring garden. It would be a treat to wake up in this bed every morning.

decor idea: terrarium

Aren't terrariums cool? Little gardens growing beneath a glass dome. What a great way to add a fresh breath to your house -- especially during the dark days of winter. This example, with moss overflowing from the edges, is gorgeous...

I'd love to grow my own terrarium garden, but I'm not exactly sure how to begin. And this might sound like a dumb question, but how do the plants stay alive in there? Would I have to periodically take the top off so they can get some fresh air? Or does that defeat the whole purpose? I'm going to need to do some research. Any know-how you can share on the subject is much appreciated!

(Cloche available at Terrain.)

December 16, 2010

Just wanted to pop in, say hello and share a few nice things with you today.

I've been ogling this little necklace for a few weeks now...

Would love to have a little nibble of a champagne petit four...

Wishing my computer was scratch-n-sniff...

Imagining the perfect outfit topped with this...

And these are on sale(!)...

That's all for now.
Hope you're swell, my Lovelies.

And so is her art.

i want it now: knitted advent calendar

I know just where I'd hang this...

To count down the days to Christmas!

And yes, I realize it's probably a titch on the early side to be posting about Christmas. BUT it's an advent calendar, so if you wanted to order one, and wanted it here in time for December 1, you have to start thinking about doing so now! So really, I'm just looking out for you and your decorating needs and am not obsessed with the holidays approaching at all. ;-)

i want it now: thankful pencils

Happy Friday, Friends.

I was poking around online and had to share what I found...

Don't you love them?

How perfect to have a little reminder right there at our fingertips to be thankful for all we have. I, for one, am thankful for Suann and her brilliant ideas.

i want it now: bedding

For years now, I've dressed my bed in all white - duvet, shams, sheets, everything. And I've been really happy with it. (Even with a black furry dog.) I think Karey M once wrote something about sleeping on marshmallow fluff, and I thought that just describes it perfectly.

But then I saw the collection of handmade Indian textiles over at Sang and Serena Co. and went gaga over it.

And now I can totally see my bed dressed in this...
